Follow the Bride: Wedding Bells Are Ringing

So I’m back from New Jersey and the wedding celebration of Maura and Rob. It was such a great day and I was so pleased to share the experience with them as a member of the bridal party. I think weddings seem a little bit more special when you’re a part of them—I got a front row seat for the main event and was invited to sleep in Maura’s room the night before. That’s a pretty important—and anxious—night for a bride, so I was honored that she chose me for a little pre-wedding pillow talk.

In the morning, the house was, surprisingly, very calm. We woke up without an alarm around 8:00, had bagels and coffee for breakfast and then made our way to the hair and nail salon to get ready. There was a slight bit of rain while we were out, but Maura didn’t even blink. Even when the makeup appointments ran a little too long and the photographer showed up a little too early, the bride kept her cool. I’ll have to ask her what her secret is once she returns from her honeymoon.

After pictures, we all climbed into the party bus and made our way to the church. The place was packed with friends and family so we quickly hustled the bride into the parish center in the back so no one saw her before the ceremony started. The music was queued and the next thing I knew it I was at the front of the church trying to peek over the crowd at the lovely bride. She asked both her mother and father to walk her down the aisle and all three of them could not have been glowing any brighter. Rob looked just as happy and proud as Maura entered the church. This is was by far my favorite part of their wedding.

The reception that came next was a blast. Maura had a lovely hair piece to swap for her veil so after a little primping and a little bustling, she was ready for a few more pictures, some champagne and a lot of dancing. The bride and groom were social butterflies; fluttering all over the room to hug, kiss and thank their special guests. Maura and Rob looked so great on their wedding day, and now they’re in Mexico where the sun’s adding to their newlywed glow. Congratulations Maura and Rob!

There she is. Look at that beauty!

Isn't the flower girl a doll? You may now kiss the bride!
