Follow the Bride: Help Me Plan My Honeymoon!

It’s officially summer and I can’t stop thinking about a vacation. Sure, the wedding is 11 months away, but I think right now is the perfect time to start planning our honeymoon. Keith and I both have the same vacation style—we like trips that are one part relaxation and one part exploration. So, where should we go?

Since it’s our honeymoon, Keith and I would like to go someplace special, someplace we’d never normally travel to. Right away we thought of Italy’s Amalfi coast. The images online blew us away. And we know the food will be amazing. I fell in love with each hotel and want to book a room with a sea view and a private balcony to enjoy it from. Plus, from there we can travel to a few major cities like Rome and Venice.

A view from the honeymoon suite at Villa Fiorentino in Positano.

Then last weekend Keith picked up the hotel issue of Condé Nast Traveler. On the cover was an image of Jade Mountain resort in St. Lucia. A few nights there would cost a pretty penny, but that didn’t stop me from falling in love with the infinity pools that are in each room! They call their suites “sanctuaries” and the whole island looks like Lost. That sounds like the perfect mix of relaxation of exploration to me!

One of Jade Mountain's sanctuaries. I can deal with that for a week!

So what do you think? Where should Keith and I honeymoon? I’d love to hear about your honeymoons! Where did you go?

Our wedding is 11 months away :) We're honymooning in Hawaii. We have enough frequent flier miles to fly free. I guess it all depends on where you like to go, if you want it to be cold, hot, etc. Best of luck with your decision!

I definitely want to go somewhere warm! Hawaii sounds awesome, Nicole. Congrats on your engagement. It looks like we'll be planning side-by-side!

I'm with the Hawaii idea... I don't see myself hopping a plane there for just any old vacation... or maybe someplace like Tahiti...

You don't want to know where I'd likely go... it'd require a backpack!
