The life of a bride is full of perks: Fancy white dresses, sparkly jewelry, and for a few lucky ladies in New York, an invitation to spend an evening with Vera Wang.
On May 12, Bloomingdales hosted a retrospective of the lovely and talented Vera Wang. The designer discussed her 20th anniversary, offered advice for brides-to-be and even shared a little about her own wedding. (Did you know she got married five days short of her 40th birthday?)
Here’s what she had to say:
Vera on The Dress: “Feel connected to your dress. Make sure it represents who you are as a person and that it’s what you really want. Be true to yourself.”
Vera on The Registry: “Being a woman, I thought it was all about me, but it’s about your life together. Marriage is a joint venture and compromise is important. Make the registry a part of both of you.”
Vera on The Engagement Period: “The engagement is a rehearsal for your life together. Really spend time alone—take a walk together or share a quiet meal. This is very important and allows you to remember why you fell in love with each other.”
And it wouldn’t have been a Vera Wang retrospective without a few wedding dresses to oogle at. Have a look at the goods Bloomingdales had on display:
This dress is my favorite. It's made of kidskin! How cool. I also really love the gown with the bows. I think the neckline is so elegant. Isn’t it so fun to look at? What’s your favorite?
