Most Romantic Proposal Winner!!!

Ok I am so excited about this I can barely breathe! It came down to 2 proposal stories and each of our judges, Heather from Simply Inviting Weddings and Leila from Eclatante Event Design voted the exact opposite of each other! So we had to call in the reinforcements and asked Katie from Belles Lettres Designs to be the tie breaking vote.

Drumroll please...............

The winner of our first ever Romantic Proposal contest is....

Andrea & Michael!

Here is their winning proposal story:

The day of December 12th, 2008 started out pretty much like any other day for me. I just returned home from being abroad for three months and was excited to see my boyfriend Michael and family. My mom told me she wanted to celebrate my homecoming the evening of the 12th by having a big family dinner. My mom called in a reservation at one of the nicest restaurants in our town and I picked out a cute winter outfit.

After being in London for three months I had acquired some pretty stylish winter clothes. I did my hair and put on my makeup and helped my sister pick out her outfit. I rode to the restaurant with my boyfriend and planned to meet my family around 7:30. It was a chilly night with a perfect full moon and a clear sky.

I loved catching up with my family over a delicious dinner and wonderful wine and the atmosphere in the restaurant was a perfect mix of buzzing customers and glittery Christmas lights.

When dinner was over my boyfriend and I took off on our own to attend his law school's annual Christmas party. On the way to the party he got a call from a close friend who told him that the party was starting an hour later than originally planned. I of course thought nothing of it, but boy did Michael have something special in store for me!

Upon driving up to my parent's house I noticed flickering lights in the driveway. Luminaries lined the entire circular driveway forming a path all the way to the front door. At this moment I was completely stunned! Michael got out of the car and walked around to my side to open my door. He held my hand and led me inside the beautifully decorated house complete with cream colored candles of all shapes and sizes in every room.

Michael led me into the room where my parents always set up the Christmas tree. On the gorgeous round wine colored ottoman was a box wrapped with sage green paper and tied with a cream colored bow and a small bouquet of roses. We sat down on the ottoman together and Michael handed me the box to unwrap. I untied the satiny ribbon and ripped open the paper to find a homemade book.

Michael wrote me the most amazing note on the inside cover and after reading through the note he guided me through the homemade treasure page by page. The book was filled with pictures from the place we first met (his law school's tennis tournament), our travels (a bed & breakfast weekend in the mountains of North Carolina, a vacation to Mexico, a visit to London, and exploring Italy together), and other special times we have spent together. The last page of the book was a picture of a ring box with the words "December 12, 2008 is a night we will never forget...It is the night I asked you to marry me. I love you."

At this point I was so overwhelmed and excited! Michael looked into my eyes and told me how much he loved me and that I would always come first in his life. He reached for a box that was sitting right under the Christmas tree, knelt down on one knee, and in the dim candle lit room asked me to be his wife. I of course said yes!

It was the most amazing moment of my life. I was amazed at how well he planned the entire event – I love that included my family in the evenings activities because I am very close to them, I love that he incorporated Christmas because it is by far my favorite time of the year, and I love that he incorporated all of the memories we have shared during our time together in one beautiful book that we can look back on for years and years to remember that special evening.

After the proposal Michael told me that my family was waiting for a call from me and when they arrived home they had a gorgeous cake and champagne to celebrate our new engagement. I am so thankful that I get to spend the rest of my life with such an amazing and creative man. What more could a girl ask for?!
