Setting the Table

At your reception, it is especially important to be sure that your table settings reflect the mood and theme of your day. Of course, it is also important with work your reception location d├ęcor, rather than against it.

Does your location dictate a more formal table setting with decorative charger plates, elegant flatware and sparkling glassware?

Is the mood of your wedding a more modern vibe? Try using square plates and accessories or even colored glassware.

Only able to work with an all white table setting, including napkins and tablecloths? Never fear! Add some punches of color with your placecards, menu cards, favors or even colorful votive candles. Some locations include floral centerpieces. If this is the case for your location, discuss the option of using alternating heights for your centerpieces which adds dimension and drama to an otherwise typical table set up.

Square and rectangular tables are huge right now and can really add a modern touch to your table layout. Not only is it a sophisticated way of decorating but it allows your guests to partake in a very cozy family style setting.

Another fun way to accessorize your tables is to use coordinating but not matching plates and chargers. Hit up your local flee market or garage sales for pieces in your colors or talk to your florist or coordinator for contacts that they might have in obtaining different styles of china. All images from theknot.com
