“Nate and I grew up in Connecticut, live in New York City but decided to get married in Burlington, VT as we had our first romantic get-away there. We even booked all 14 rooms at the beautiful B&B we stayed at on our first trip there for the weekend of our wedding. We knew we wanted an intimate Italian style dinner party and that's just what we got -- 45 of our closest friends and family joined us for the weekend.
We were married in a stunning Congregational Church and then walked, with all of our guests, around the corner in downtown Burlington to the restaurant where we had our reception. There was a market festival going on that day so there was so much activity and people stopped to watch us lead the processional up the street shouting "Congratulations" along the way. For our reception we had two long tables and we also used the bar for formal seating -- the bride and groom sat at the end of the bar!
My favorite part of planning our wedding was thinking about how to have our day be personal and intimate and for all our guests to feel special. I was thrilled to hire an amazing photographer and videographer so I'll always remember and be able to share the joy of our wedding day with our kids and their kids! One of the best moments of our wedding day was during our reception when I looked up and realized every single person was engaged in conversation with the people around them and genuinely having a great time. I felt so pleased as that was just what I wanted.”
